The 2015 vintage, generally rated as excellent, saw good winter rains with a very dry and warm growing season. Mid February saw Chardonnay being harvested with good flavours and structure.
Winemaking is traditional with all fruit being pressed and sent straight to oak for ferment. Some barrels were allowed to utilise wild ferments and a small portion remained on solids and were stirred occasionally.
Chardonnay at Badgers Brook does not go through Malolactic fermentation allowing for a very clean and crisp style. The wine remains in oak for a period of 11 months.
The 2015 Badgers Brook Chardonnay is a very tight and refined Chardonnay style showing Lemon, Lime & Grapefruit predominantly with a touch of white peach. The acid structure is well balanced ensuring a very food friendly wine.
